About the book:

Julian the main character of the story graduated from Harvard University. He was a successful lawyer with a big house and a Ferrari owner earnings millions of dollars a month. But he was not happy about his work due to a lot of stress in his profession. No time to enjoy his life. The pressure was so high that he went through a heart attack. After he got realized from the hospital he did not go to the office, haven’t contacted anyone.

After three years he went to his collogue John. John was surprised by seeing Julian he looked ten years younger, looked calm and relaxed. Julian after he got discharged from hospital he sold his house, Ferrari and came to India to travel around the Himalayas. He had conversations with various sadhus, monks and learned many things from them at that time he met a guru Yogi Raman and told him a story (story of seven virtues).

The story starts with a green garden, birds chirping, beautiful flowers best garden you would imagine in the middle of the garden there is a red tall lighthouse. A sumo wrestler very heavy, tall he roams around the garden with no clothes only pink wrestler underwear then he suddenly found a golden watch, picked it up and wore it in his hand. Suddenly he faints and fell in the ground after a few minutes he slowly opened up his eyes he was filled with energy from the smell of the yellow roses near him in the garden. After waking up he saw a path full of diamonds and he started to follow the path and you did it too. There are seven lessons present in this story told by Yogi Raman.

The lessons are as follows:
1.    The garden is described as your mind you should have control over your mind. You should treat your subconscious mind as a garden and a conscious mind as a gardener. The job of a gardener is to care for the flowers and protect them from harmful insects, those insects are defined as negative thoughts. Way to control your negative thought is by meditation.
2.    Lighthouse is the symbol of the purpose of your life, purpose means the biggest goal of your life. It shows us the way. No purpose means no direction to grow. There are five steps: - Visualize the outcome, put light pressure on yourself, create a timeline (within the period you want to achieve the goal), it takes 21 days to form a habit and lastly enjoy yourself.
3.    Sumo wrestlers are defined for continuous improvement. There is a word in Japan called kaizen which means small improvement every day, can give us big results.
4.    Pink underwear represents discipline. The author tells us about the boundaries that everyone should set some limits and boundaries. For example, you set a boundary to wake up every day at 7 am to complete this you need discipline. To increase your discipline make one promise to yourself every day try not to break that promise.
5.    Golden watch- watch reminds us to respect our time. Plan your day night before don’t be too strict. Focus on good things, spend your time wisely.
6.    Roses represent kindness and selflessness be polite to others, help others but don’t expect anything in return. It will make you feel happier and more fulfilled.
7.    Diamonds by telling about diamonds it means to live in the present moment. Don’t think much about the past and future live the present moment.

Conclusion:

The story tells us about the reality of society nowadays. Everyone is running behind money, status, fame. So at some point in time, it’s very important to sell something very important to us, the point is to think about what we want from life.
